Question:

254 Mr. Power asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the current position in relation to the Prosperous sewerage improvement scheme in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17897/97]

The Upper Liffey Valley sewerage scheme involves the extension and upgrading of the sewerage plant at Osberstown and the connection of the towns of Kilcullen, Athgarvan and Prosperous to the extended plant.

The local authority were requested in July of this year to submit revised contract documents.

Contract documents for this scheme are under consideration in my Department but, given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage investment programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve the proposal.
