Vol. 482 No. 3

Written Answers. - Visitor Conditions.

Jim Higgins

Question:

314 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his Department will extend the permitted period of residence in this country of a US citizen (details supplied). [17964/97]

The person in question arrived here in May of this year on a short visit. In August, she was given an extension of her visitor conditions by my Department up to 1 November. However, it has come to the attention of my Department, and is confirmed in the details supplied by the Deputy, that she has entered employment in the State in breach of her visitor conditions and without a work permit as required by law. In such circumstances, I am not prepared to agree to any further extension of her permission to remain here.
