344 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if the national sports conference, scheduled for December 1997 to bring all elements of Irish sport together to debate the key issues in Irish sport, is going ahead; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17794/97]

The National Sports Conference will go ahead in the new year. This is a most important conference for Irish sport which requires detailed planning and organisation to ensure a successful and productive outcome for sport and for the various organisations and interests involved.
