Vol. 482 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Billy Kelleher

Question:

392 Mr. Kelleher asked the Minister for Education and Science the measures, if any, his Department is taking to provide extra permanent classrooms in a school (details supplied) in County Cork in view of the fact that prefabricated rooms are currently being used; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17903/97]

The prefabricated classrooms being used at the school to which the Deputy refers have all been provided with Department grant assistance since 1990 and are reported to be in good condition. At present, my Department's priority is to provide essential classroom accommodation to schools generally and to upgrade existing substandard accommodation within the limited resources available. The needs of the school will be kept under review.
