Written Answers. - Vocational Training Opportunities Schemes.

Pat Carey

Question:

407 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Education and Science the proportion of male and female participants on VTOS schemes; and his views on whether measures are necessary to provide a greater balance between the sexes. [18003/97]

The total number of VTOS participants at 1 January 1997 was 4,407.

Of these 2,377, or 54 per cent were female and 2,030, or 46 per cent were male, which is a reasonable balance between the sexes.
