98 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the current position regarding the sanctioning of a grant towards Galway airport company for the extension of their runway and the improvement of facilities at the airport; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17741/97]

My Department is currently assessing an application from Galway airport and a number of other regional airports for Exchequer funding towards the cost of certain infrastructural improvements at the airports. I hope to be in a position to respond to these airports on the matter shortly.
