106 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Defence if he will have arrangements made to recruit tradespersons for the vacancies of plasterer and carpenter at Columb Barracks, Mullingar, County Westmeath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17792/97]

There are no plans at present to take on any additional civilian employee tradespersons at Columb Barracks. However, should it be decided to do so in the future, any vacancies will be filled through FÁS, the training and employment Authority.
