Vol. 482 No. 4

Written Answers - School Transport.

Pádraic McCormack

Question:

113 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will give details of the link regarding school transport facilities for the pupils (details supplied) from a large catchment area in County Galway attending a school (details supplied) in County Galway; if school transport will be provided for those children; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18302/97]

Under the terms of the school transport scheme, transport may be provided only to schools which have received permanent recognition from my Department. The school in question has temporary recognition only at present. I regret it is not open to my Department to recognise this school for transport purposes at this time. However, I would be pleased to re-examine the transport situation for these pupils should the school receive permanent recognition in future.
