Question:

90 Mrs. Owen asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the jobs, if any, which have been lost and created in counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois and Offaly in the past year and the location of these jobs. [18387/97]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 89 and 90 together. The most recent data available on job losses and job gains relate to 1996 and is drawn from the employment survey conducted by Forfás. The survey covers companies assisted by IDA Ireland, Forbairt and Shannon Development. The information sought by the Deputy on job losses and job gains is as follows:

1996

Job Gains

Job Losses

Carlow

96

157

Kilkenny

331

216

Laois

118

204

Offaly

311

174

Tipperary

1,508

773

The information sought by the Deputy in respect of the location of the job losses and gains is not available from the agencies.
