Vol. 482 No. 6

Written Answers. - Gas Interconnector.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

35 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if legal action is being taken or threatened against her Department by contractors who claim that they are due large outstanding payments for the construction of the natural gas interconnector between Ireland and Scotland. [18985/97]

Bord Gáis Éireann entered into a number of contracts for the construction of the various elements of the natural gas interconnector gas pipeline between Ireland and Scotland. One of the contractors has issued court proceedings in connection with a claim associated with one of the contracts against Bord Gáis Éireann and others, including the Minister for Public Enterprise. As the matter is sub judice, I am unable to comment further.
