14 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the number of consultants currently engaged in projects on behalf of his Department; the estimated cost of these consultancies; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19146/97]

The number of consultants currently engaged in projects on behalf of my Department is 34.

The total estimated cost of these consultancies, which are largely of an engineering and technical nature is approximately £850,000.
