Vol. 482 No. 8

Written Answers. - Parking Regulations.

John McGuinness

Question:

180 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he intends to introduce legislation to allow local authorities introduce residents only parking areas in urban centres throughout the country. [19271/97]

Section 36 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994 empowers local authorities to introduce schemes whereby permits may be granted to residents exempting them from the payment of parking charges in respect of specified roads.

There are no proposals to extend these provisions.
