Vol. 483 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dental Services.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

186 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will have investigations made into the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 who is missing his two front teeth and is unemployed and cannot afford to have dentures made and in view of the fact that he cannot go for interview in his current condition; and if his Department will ensure that his needs are met in view of the fact he is suffering depression due to his condition as certified by his general practitioner. [19905/97]

As the provision of dental treatment to eligible persons in Dublin 8 is the statutory responsibility of the Eastern Health Board I have asked the chief executive officer of the Eastern Health Board to investigate the position regarding dental treatment for the person to which the Deputy refers and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
