Dáil Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 19 Nov 1997

Vol. 483 No. 1

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Ferris. I call on Deputy Ferris to state the matter on which he has given notice to me.

I move the adjournment of the Dáil to debate the serious issue of flooding in Clonmel, County Tipperary and the Government's inaction to date to deal with this problem which is affecting the livelihoods of thousands of people in Clonmel town and district.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be one contemplated by Standing Order 31 and, therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
