Question:

43 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance if he will exempt aquaculture farms from the payment of rates in order to assist further development of fish farms in view of the fact that aquaculture farms are the only section of the Irish farming community which are not exempt from paying local authority rates; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16096/97]

My Department is currently working on the draft heads of a Valuation Bill designed to update and streamline the valuation code. The issues raised by the Deputy will be looked at in that context.
