Vol. 483 No. 2

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Alan Shatter

Question:

119 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Health and Children when he will approve a requested grant of £12 million to upgrade theatre facilities in Our Lady's Hospital, Crumlin, Dublin 12. [19960/97]

A project team, consisting of officials from my Department and hospital representatives, is currently preparing a development plan for the provision of additional operating theatres at the hospital. I have asked that this work be concluded as a matter of urgency so that the hospital can proceed to the next stage of this very important development.

I met the chairman and representatives of Our Lady's Hospital two weeks ago and confirmed that the project would be included in my Department's capital programme. A budget cost cannot be set for the development until the project team has completed its brief.
