Vol. 483 No. 3

Written Answers. - Orthodontic Service.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

196 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department will have arrangements made for dental treatment for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 who needs immediate orthodontic treatment but who cannot afford to pay for treatment in view of the fact his father is on invalidity pension; if he will have inquiries made into the matter in order to assist in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20146/97]

As the provision of orthodontic treatment to eligible persons in Dublin 12 is the statutory responsibility of the Eastern Health Board I have asked the chief executive officer of the Eastern Health Board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
