Vol. 483 No. 3

Written Answers. - Wildlife Legislation.

Willie Penrose

Question:

328 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will introduce regulations to require wildlife officers to satisfy themselves as to the method of demise of protected wildlife and to require them to certify that such wildlife is suitable for stuffing by a taxidermist; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20388/97]

It is not my intention at present to introduce any such regulations under the Wildlife Act, 1976. The Deputy will be aware, however, that an amendment to that Act is under consideration in my Department and I hope to bring the relevant Bill before this House early next year.
