Vol. 483 No. 3

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

64 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide the necessary finance for the consultant's feasibility study on the west Waterford regional water supply scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20043/97]

My Department wrote to Waterford Councy Council on 1 July 1997 informing it that proposals for the west Waterford area should be addressed in the context of its strategic rural water plan. A grant of £86,000 has been provided to the council to assist in this work. It is now a matter for the council to prepare its strategic rural water plan. The question of funding a separate feasibility study for the west Waterford area does not, therefore, arise at this stage.
