Question:

63 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the current position regarding the proposed development of Killybegs Harbour, County Donegal. [20682/97]

I have already stated my commitment to seek the necessary funding to address the capital development needs of Killybegs and I am pursuing this as a priority.

Question:

64 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if it is intended to proceed with the dredging of Burtonport Harbour, County Donegal; if the hydrographic survey commissioned earlier in 1997 has been completed; and when it is intended that finance will be made available to commence work on the required dredging. [20683/97]

I have made funding available to Donegal County Council for the surveys and investigations which are required to draw up a detailed plan for dredging at Burtonport Harbour. I understand that the hydrographic survey has been completed and the county council has awarded a contract for site investigations which are due to commence next week.

Funding for the dredging works will be assessed when the investigations have been completed and a detailed plan has been prepared.
