89 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if the source of the oil pollution, evident through birdkills, at Ardmore beach has been established; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20848/97]
I am informed that oiled birds recovered from a number of locations on the south coast have been forwarded for detailed laboratory examination to establish where the polluting oil originated. Pending the results of the tests in question it is not possible to say with certainty what caused the pollution in this case.
