The person named applied for 22 animals under the 1996 special beef premium 22 month scheme in November 1996. This application was subsequently selected for field inspection at which it was established that four of the animals applied on were missing. The appropriate penalty was imposed, i.e., no premium was payable as the rejected animals exceeded 20 per cent of the number found eligible.
The person named was advised of the proposed penalty and afforded the opportunity to appeal. Following consideration of his appeal, the penalty was confirmed. On 31 October 1997 the person named was advised of the result of his appeal and indicated that the decision could be appealed to the headage and premia appeals unit within 21 days. To date, an appeal has not been lodged by the herdowner.
