Written Answers. - Publication of Reports.

Dan Neville

Question:

134 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he has received the consultants report of the investigation into pay levels structures and related matters at a company (details supplied) in County Limerick; if he will give this information to Dáil Éireann; if he has details of similar information from other port companies; if so, if he will also give this information to Dáil Éireann; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21584/97]

I have not yet received the consultant's report in question. I am advised that the consultant expects to complete his report and present it to me very shortly.

As I have already informed the House, information has been sought and recently obtained from all port companies in relation to the remuneration packages in place for senior management at each such company.

In relation to the consultant's investigation, it is my intention to take whatever action is necessary on foot of his investigation to ensure that the essential commercial mandate of Foynes Port Company is discharged fully.

As regards the other port companies, I am examining and assessing the information furnished and determining the implications. When I have done so, and fully considered all the issues involved, I will be making a full statement in the matter.
