Vol. 484 No. 3

Written Answers. - Housing Grants.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

268 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the proposals, if any, he has to increase the new house grants to assist first time buyers in this time of spiralling house prices; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22251/97]

I have no such proposals at present.

I am, however, concerned at the impact of recent house price increases on affordability of housing and I have, therefore, appointed consultants to examine the factors underlying the increases in house prices and to assess likely future developments.

Paul Bradford

Question:

269 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if a new house grant will be paid to persons (details supplied) in County Cork. [22291/97]

An inspection, with a view to payment of the grant, will be carried out as soon as possible.
