Written Answers. - Departmental Contracts.

Bernard J. Durkan

120 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the number of contracts or agreements valued at more than £1 million awarded by her Department in the period from 30 June 1997 to date; if she will give details of such projects; if they were awarded by public tender or otherwise; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23076/97]

Question:

121 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the number, if any, of public contracts currently under contemplation in her Department with a value of more that £500,000; if any of these contracts are likely to be awarded within the next 12 months; whether selection will be by public tender or otherwise; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23110/97]

Question:

123 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the number and identity of all contracts in excess of £300,000 awarded by her office or other bodies under the aegis of her Department from the period 30 June 1997 to date; whether these contracts were awarded by public tender or otherwise; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23139/97]

I propose taking Questions Nos. 120, 121, and 123 together. Details of contracts awarded by my Department since 30 June 1997 or under consideration in my Department are contained in the following schedule. In view of the extent and nature of contracts awarded by the Geological Survey of Ireland, I have asked them to reply separately to the Deputy on the matter.

Contracts awarded by bodies under the aegis of my Department are day-to-day matters for the bodies concerned and I have no function in the matter.

In so far as future contracts are concerned, it may be necessary within the next twelve months to engage consultants to oversee a competition for new electricity generating capacity. It is likely that such a contract would have a value in excess of £500,000 and it would be awarded by means of public tender.
