I propose to take Questions Nos. 176, 177, 178, 179 and 180 together.

Under the National Lottery Act, 1986, the terms and conditions of appointment of national lottery retail agents and the number of agents to be appointed are matters for determination by the National Lottery Company subject to the consent of the Minister for Finance.

I understand that when considering an applicant for appointment, the National Lottery Company takes a number of considerations into account including such as the distribution of agents in the area, opening hours, and the nature and level of business transacted by the applicant. The location of the outlet and proximity to existing national lottery agents are also factors which are taken into account by the company.

I am satisfied that the current arrangements which are reviewed on an ongoing basis are operating adequately.
