Vol. 485 No. 2

Written Answers. - Heart Surgery.

Charles Flanagan

Question:

199 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Laois will be called for a heart by-pass at St. James's Hospital, Dublin 8; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22598/97]

I understand that St. James's Hospital has confirmed that the person concerned is on its priority waiting list for admission but that it is not possible to indicate when he will be admitted. I am sure that the Deputy will understand that the scheduling of admission to hospital is a matter for the consultant concerned and is determined solely on the basis of medical priority.
