Vol. 485 No. 2

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Dick Spring

Question:

284 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the reason there is no record in his Department of a person (details supplied) in County Kerry who signed for unemployment benefit for the period of 11 November 1986 to 4 June 1987. [23120/97]

According to my Department's records the person concerned did not sign the unemployment register for the period in question.

She made a number of claims during the period 11 April 1983 to 11 November 1986 while she was intermittently employed on a casual basis. She did not sign the unemployment register between 12 November 1986 and 3 June 1987. When she made a repeat claim on 4 June 1987 she stated that she was employed full-time for the period in question.

The person involved has been in contact with the Department and the position has been explained to her. All the documentation in this case is available at her local social welfare office. The person has been invited to call to the office and view the documentation at her convenience. She has not done so to date.
