375 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will provide a breakdown of the in-service training budget for school year 1996/1997 at primary and post primary level; and the proposals, if any, he has in relation to the budgeting of in-service training at primary and post primary level for the school year 1997/1998. Financial data for in-service training are held in my Department on a calendar year rather than on an academic year basis. A breakdown of expenditure for the calendar year 1996 by sector is as set out in the following table:

Corresponding information on expenditure in 1997 will be available as soon as possible in 1998.

The provision in the 1998 Estimates is £10.4 million, including £3 million for targeted information technology training.
