22 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she will give details of the investment authorised by her Department into the port of Rosslare to date in 1997; the discussions, if any, she has had with CIE in relation to the future requirements of Rosslare Harbour; and if she will make a statement on the matter. My Department has not received any application for EU or Exchequer funding in 1997 in respect of Rosslare Harbour.
I understand, however, that EU funding has been approved for investment in the port in the period 1996-99 under the maritime INTERREG initiative. The relevant application for assistance was processed by the Department of the Marine and Natural Resources. The future investment requirements of Rosslare Harbour are a matter primarily for Iarnród Éireann.
