Vol. 485 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

84 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources whether it is necessary for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo to be inspected before his forest premia grant is paid in view of the fact that he was recently informed by a Department official that payment would issue as soon as form 3 was submitted. [22866/97]

To be eligible for forest premium the owner must continue to maintain and protect the plantation. An inspection is carried out four years after payment of the first instalment of grant to determine if the condition of the plantation warrants payment of the second instalment of grant and the fifth subsequent premia. The completion of form 3 is the first step in the procedure for the payment of the maintenance grant and fifth premium.
