Vol. 485 No. 4

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Dan Neville

Question:

154 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the amount of money it would cost to build 200 local authority houses in County Limerick in order to alleviate the housing shortage. [23451/97]

The average cost of providing a three bedroom local authority house in the County Limerick area is currently about £50,000. The cost of providing 200 local authority houses would, on this basis, be in the region of £10 million. However, the actual cost of 200 houses would depend on land acquisition costs, tender prices, etc. at the time.
