Question:

211 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he will give details of moneys given by his Department to charities for each of the years from 1990 to date in 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1233/98]

The only moneys given to charities by my Department during the period mentioned relate to the payment of an annual Exchequer grant to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. The relevant figures were: 1990, £100,000; 1991, £111,000; 1992, £100,000; 1993, £195,000; 1994, £106,000; 1995, £106,000; 1996, £100,000; 1997, £100,000.
