Question:

213 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the current position in relation to the development of har- bour infrastructure facilities at Inishmore, Aran Islands in view of the fact that the feasibility study has now been completed and sent to his Depart- ment; and if he will make a statement on the mat- ter. [1350/98]

The development of harbour infra- structure at Inishmore, Aran Islands, is a matter for Galway County Council in the first instance. Any issues concerning financial or other assist- ance for such development fall within the remit of the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands.

A feasibility study for the development of har- bour infrastructure at Inishmore was forwarded to my Department by Galway County Council, for advice, on 22 December 1997 and is being examined with a view to conveying comments on it to the county council.
