Vol. 486 No. 1

Written Answers. - Angling Tourism Promotion.

Conor Lenihan

Question:

251 Mr. C. Lenihan asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if his attention has been drawn to the fact that there is no single agency responsible for the promotion overseas of angling tourism; and the action, if any, he intends to take on this matter. [1577/98]

In the context of the decision to transfer £300,000 from the tourism angling measure to directly address the promotion overseas of the angling product, discussions are under way to clarify and agree the respective roles and responsibilities of the fisheries boards and Bord Fáilte in the promotional initiative and to ensure that the funding to support this is used to maximum effect. I expect these discussions to reach conclusion quickly.
