Vol. 486 No. 1

Written Answers. - European Monetary Institute.

Michael Bell

Question:

56 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Finance the number of Irish personnel currently working in the European Monetary Institute in Frankfurt; the number of these people who are on secondment from either the Central Bank or the Department of Finance; the total number of people currently employed in the European Monetary Institute; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1942/98]

As I have no responsibility for recruitment to the European Monetary Institute, I am not in a position to advise the Deputy of the number of Irish personnel working in the Institute. I can confirm, however, that there are eight personnel from the Central Bank seconded to the EMI and one officer from the Department of Finance currently on special leave to work with the Institute. In addition to those Irish personnel working in the EMI the Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland is a member of the Council of the Institute.
