366 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Defence the amount paid in each of the years from 1996 to date in 1998 from the Army Pensions Vote in respect of compensation for death or personal injuries sustained by members of the Local Defence Force; the nature of the payments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1319/98]

Expenditure under Subhead F of the Vote for Army Pensions by way of periodic compensation for personal injuries or death to or in respect of former members of the Local Defence Force — which ceased to exist in 1946 — amounted to £25,100 in 1996 and £25,600 in 1997.
