Question:436 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when area aid payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford, particularly the balancing payments that are outstanding from 1997; and if he will expedite this in view of the fact that all inspections have been carried out and the file returned to the area aid division. [1633/98]
As there is a possibility that the person named may have an interest in two separate area aid applications, this case had to be investigated by my Department. That investigation is still ongoing and it is hoped to bring it to a conclusion in the near future, following which the person named will be notified of its outcome. If payment is due, it will be made very soon after conclusion of the investigation referred to.
