460 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the amount of money that has been paid out by way of compensation to date in 1998 to farmers in the Erris region of west Mayo following the vast damage caused by inclement weather and floods and, in particular, to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [1829/98]

The claims received under the scheme of assistance for weather related crop losses in 1997 by my Department are currently being examined. No payments have as yet been made under this scheme.
