Question:466 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a beef premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway. [1981/98]

The person concerned submitted three ten month special beef premium applications on 16 June 1997, 24 July 1997 and 14 October 1997, respectively, and one 22 month special beef premium application on 16 June 1997.
The ten month application dated 16 June 1997 was selected for a field inspection and it was discovered that four of the animals involved had not been registered with the calf registration service. These animals have now been registered and payment will issue in the next fortnight on all eligible animals on the application. The ten month application dated 24 July 1997 involved one animal. There was a problem with the cattle identity card for this animal and it was returned to the applicant to have the position rectified. Instead of responding the applicant submitted a new application dated 14 October 1997 in respect of this animal. A valid card was submitted and payment issued to the applicant on 20 January 1998.
The 22 month special beef premium application involved seven animals. The applicant failed to submit cards for four of the animals. Two written requests were sent to him requesting that the cards be submitted for the purpose of having them stamped and punched. The applicant replied stating that he had sold the animals. Accordingly, these four tag numbers were subsequently deleted from his application and the herdowner was informed in writing on 28 November 1997. Payment issued to the applicant on 2 December 1997 for the remaining three animals.

Question:467 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Limerick will be paid his headage and suckler cow grants. [1982/98]
The case was held pending clarification of herd number details. The person named will be paid his 1997 cattle headage and suckler cow premium grants within the next week.
