Question:

770 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when he will publish a revised strategy statement for the operations under the aegis of his Department; whether his attention has been drawn to the article in Administration (volume 45, number 3) published by the Institute of Public Administration; whether a customer services plan or charter has been published by him; if so, the way in which this has been publicised; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. O'Donoghue):

A revised strategy statement is under preparation in my Department and will be published in accordance with the provisions of the Public Service Management Act, 1997. I understand the article referred to by the Deputy consists of an analysis of strategy statements produced by Departments prior to the enactment of the Public Service Management Act, 1997. My Department published its customer service action plan on 18 December 1997 and copies were sent to the principal media organisations. Copies are available in the Oireachtas Library. A summary version is being prepared and it is intended to send a copy of the summary version to every public representative.
