Vol. 486 No. 1

Written Answers. - VAT on Magazines.

Michael Creed

Question:

93 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Finance the total VAT take from magazines in each of the years 1995 and 1996; the estimated total from research periodicals in these years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1192/98]

The position is that VAT returns are not compiled in a manner which would enable the yield from particular goods and services to be identified.

However, the VAT yield from sales of magazines in 1995 and 1996 is estimated at £4.3 million for both years. This figure includes the estmated yield from certain research periodicals, which cannot be isolated.
