Question:

804 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the international multilateral agreements under the auspices of his Department to which his attention has been drawn and which have not been signed by the State; the date and place it was opened for signature in each case; the international organisation, if any, through whose machinery the agreement was negotiated; whether it is proposed to sign the agreement; if so, when; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1058/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 802, 803 and 804 together.

There are no international multilateral agreements, under the auspices of my Department, which are currently being negotiated or prepared. Similarly, there are no international multilateral agreements which have yet to be signed, ratified or acceded to other than the Council of Europe Anti-Doping Convention, 1989, the ratification of which is pending the introduction of a testing programme in Ireland for combating doping in sport.

My Department is currently assessing recommendations recently presented by an anti-doping advisory committee established last year by the Irish Sports Council, regarding the establishment of an Irish sports anti-doping policy and operational framework.
