Question:874 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Education and Science when work will commence on a second level school (details supplied) in County Laois; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1560/98]
Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.
Preliminary sketch schemes for the school in question were submitted by Laois VEC in September 1997 and were examined by my Department's technical staff. These sketch schemes were generally found to be in order subject to various points which were communicated to Laois VEC in October 1997. The VEC were asked to respond to these points and incorporate them into a formal Stage 2 submission (outline sketch scheme) to be submitted to the Department for consideration.
The building unit of my Department is still awaiting this Stage 2 submission from Laois VEC.
As this project is in the early stages of planning, it is too early to say when construction will commence.
