Vol. 486 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Question:

927 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will provide additional funding for a school (details supplied) in Dublin 12 in order that its toilets could be moved indoors; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2064/98]

The toilets at the school referred by the Deputy are indoors.

The school has applied to my Department for grant-aid for a number of improvement works. A grant has been sanctioned for major roof works and other works will be considered following completion of the project.
The school also receives an annual grant of £2,000, plus £9 per pupil, to carry out improvement works to its facilities.

Question:

928 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will provide funding for a new heating system, replacement ceilings, windows and rewiring for a school (details supplied) in Dublin 12; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2065/98]

My Department's post primary building unit has requested the school to provide additional information regarding the repairs so that the proposal can be adequately assessed.

As soon as this information is submitted, the school authorities will be informed accordingly of the decision.
