Question:943 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Education and Science the steps, if any, he is taking to facilitate the opening of a new second level Gaelscoil on the northside of Dublin from September 1998. [2194/98]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 128, on Wednesday, 10 December 1997. In that reply, I indicated that a review of the need for all Irish postprimary facilities in the Dublin north each area was being carried out by the planning section of my Department in the light of all relevant factors, such as the adequacy of existing provision, demographic trends and likely future demand.
This review is now well advanced and I expect that a report and recommendation in the matter will be submitted to me for consideration very shortly.
