Vol. 486 No. 1

Written Answers. - Special Education Needs.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

947 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the assistance which exists towards transport or other costs associated with a person (details supplied) in County Kildare whose son is dyslexic and has to attend special classes in Newbridge, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2237/98]

I understand that the case to which the Deputy refers has not previously been brought to the attention of my Department.

I have requested a member of my Department's inspectorate to contact the parents of the child in question to clarify the circumstances of this case and consider whether further action is required to meet the child's educational needs.
