212 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when his Department will issue approval and finance to Cork County Council for Castletownbere sewerage scheme. [2716/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 211 and 212 together.

Contract documents for the Castletownbere and Bantry sewerage schemes have been submitted to my Department. Given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage investment programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve them.

Question:

225 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when his Department will issue approval to Cork County Council to employ consulting engineers to design suitable sewerage schemes for Schull and Baltimore in view of the fact that the original request was made on 3 April 1991. [2750/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 214 and 225 together.

Briefs for the Innishannon water supply scheme and the Schull and Baltimore sewerage schemes have been submitted to my Department. Given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage services investment programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve them.

Question:

215 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department has made financial provision for finance to be provided for Bantry regional water scheme in the 1998 Estimates. [2720/98]

A preliminary report for the scheme was approved in April 1997 and site investigations are currently ongoing. The project is included in the water and sewerage services investment programme for 1998 to be advanced through planning.

Question:

216 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when Government funding will be allocated to Cork County Council to augment the Schull water supply scheme from the newly completed Skibbereen stage 3 scheme and thereby alleviate a serious water problem that occurs each summer. [2721/98]

A preliminary report for the Schull water supply scheme has been submitted to my Department. Given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage investment programme I cannot say when it may be possible to approve the proposal.

However the recently completed Skibbereen water supply scheme, Stage 3, included a link main to serve Ballydehob thereby reducing the demand on the source of water supply to Schull and releasing extra capacity to serve the Schull area.
