191 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance when a record of the total amount of income from employment in the year ending 5 April 1997 will issue in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3397/98]
I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that in the case referred to by the Deputy, the taxpayer was assessed for income tax for the year 1996-97 under self-assessment. A return was received from the taxpayer on 5 Decemer 1997. This return was processed in accordance with the self-assessment principles and a notice of assessment issued on 14 January 1998 based on the figures in the return.
The notice showed that there was a credit of tax due to the taxpayer. A repayment cheque issued to the taxpayer on 3 February 1998.
