Vol. 486 No. 6

Written Answers. - Environmental Protection Agency.

John Gormley

Question:

230 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the proposals, if any, he has to appoint medical experts to the board of the Environmental Protection Agency in view of the public health issues surrounding many of the areas within the remit of the agency. [3406/98]

There are no vacancies on the board of the Environmental Protection Agency at present and future vacancies will be filled in accordance with the provisions of sections 21 and 24 of the Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1992 —No. 7 of 1992. I have no plans at present to specify a medical background as a requirement for the purposes of filling future vacancies on the board.
